Indication

Treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible microorganisms: Prophylaxis and prevention of postoperative infection due to anaerobic bacteria, particularly species of Bacteroides and anaerobic streptococci. Treatment of septicemia, bacteremia, peritonitis, brain abscess, necrotizing pneumonia, ostemyelitis, puerperal sepsis, pelvic abscess, pelvic cellulitis, and post-operative wound infections from which pathogenic anaerobes have been isolated. Urogenital trichomoniasis, both symptomatic and asymptomatic. Amebiasis, Giardiasis, Balantidiasis and Blastocystis hominis infection, Vaginal infections including bacterial vaginosis, Acute ulcerative gingivitis, Acute dental infections (e.g., acute pericorontis and acute apical infections), Anaerobically-infected leg ulcers and pressure sores. Treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection associated with peptic ulcer as part of triple therapy.
