It is used in conditions where inhibition of gastric acid secretion may be beneficial including aspiration syndromes.
Omeprazole is also useful in the management of the following conditions: laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), prevention of
gastric and duodenal ulcer associated with NSAID therapy or drug induced gastropathy (including corticosteroids, warfarin,
aspirin, certain antibiotics and NSAIDs), conditions where gastric acid secretions must be inhibited or reduced (chronically
ill patients, patients on chemotherapy, post stroke, post operative or post-surgical states, bed-ridden patients, patients at
risk of aspiration of gastric contents during anesthesia). |
