Indication

Pantoprazole is indicated in the management of dyspepsia, gastric and duodenal ulcers, ulcers caused by Helicobacter
pylori, NSAID gastropathy, erosive gastritis, esophagitis and GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease). It is used to treat
conditions that cause increased stomach acid secretion, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Pantoprazole is prescribed in conjunction with the antibiotics amoxicillin and clarithromycin to eradicate the bacterium
Helicobacter pylori and thus prevent the recurrence of duodenal ulcers caused by this bacterium.
Pantoprazole is used in conditions where gastric acid secretions must be inhibited or reduced: LPR- (laryngopharyngeal
reflux), prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcer associated with NSAID therapy (or drug induced gastropathy), chronically
ill patients, post stroke, post operative or post-surgical states, bed-ridden patients, patients at risk of aspiration of gastric
contents during anesthesia and aspiration syndromes.
